Location

So I finally have an idea for my location project, after putting off my location work for a while due to other commitments with my studio work! After some deliberation I have decided to document the city of Hull through the perspective of Urban decay. Within the work that I create I was to capture an area that people normally wouldn’t look twice at. For this project I will also be creating a a theme within a theme by focusing on the shipping and fishing industry of Hull.

First Trip To Lordline!

Today I took my first trip to Lordline, although excited to get started with my project I was also skeptical on weather I would be able to gain access to the main building. Upon arrival it looked hopeful that I would get inside  as I saw a glimpse of metal that had been pulled away from the doorway, however this was extremely short lived once I found out it has been boarded up from behind. Although this was a slight downfall I did not let it ruin my day of shooting, I was still able to gain access to most of the side buildings allowing me to get some strange and fascinating images.

On-wards To Victoria Dock!

My aim for today was to gain a larger portfolio for my work, although I did gain a large body of work from my trip to Lordline I felt that it should be important to show range within my work. In order to do this I decided to go to Victoria Dock, in this part of Hull there is a derelict  building that is abandoned sitting in the Humber pretty much unreachable to people. I spent a good couple of hours here ensuring that I was able to capture every aspect that it had to offer.

Lordline Part 2.

After my slight disappointment on my last trip to Lordline I decided to revisit the area to see if I would have any luck entering the main build the second time around. However surprise surprise there was no way to get in yet again! I searched the outside of the building thoroughly to try and find some sort of entrance but it just wasn’t meant to be. Nevertheless I wasn’t going to make this a wasted journey and thought that I would re-enter the areas that I looked at in my previous shoot. This allowed me to find areas/objects that I had overlooked the first time I visited the area. Overall I once again didn’t get to capture what I wanted, but it still wasn’t a wasted journey.

The Torturer Of The Photo-book…

Well after ordering a photo-book as my form of presentation, I am now starting to panic!! it has been over a week and it still hasn’t arrived, and it’s getting extremely close to my presentation/hand in day. Fingers crossed it will arrive in time.

Finally It’s Here.

After a painfully long wait my photo-book has finally arrived, and looks great. From this experience I will definitely think more carefully about the way that I present my work, this will ensure that whatever method that I choose  that I allow sufficient time for it to be created. This experience was really scary as i was in panic mode for days, and has taught me a valuable lesson on timing.
